Frequently Asked Questions
What is your dress code?
Smart Casual is the style we prefer to use. It’s a loose term and we like that. Jeans are acceptable and shorts are fine to wear in the warm weather months. No hats for gentlemen indoors, please.
What’s your smoking policy?
Eventide is 100% non-smoking, including the roof patio.
Do you rent out the rooftop patio for private parties?
Absolutely! Our rooftop is available for rental Tuesday through
Saturday night. We offer rental of the entire roof for the entire
night, otherwise known as a "buy out." Clients are required
to meet a food and beverage minimum for the evening, and we can
structure the event a variety of different ways. Between the bar
and dining area, there is room for about 100 people and seating
for about 50. If you are interested, please review the Private
Events page or e-mail Jeremy
Barber .
Can I make a reservation for the roof?
No, it is for walk-in guests only. Reservations are strictly only
for the main dining room. When you are seated in the dining room,
you can certainly ask to be put on the waitlist (if there is one)
to go onto the roof when you've finished your meal for a drink though.
(Why don't we take reservations for the roof?--If we took reservations
for the roof and we had foul weather or it was too hot for you,
where would we put you?)
How late can I grab a bite to eat on the roof?
Since the kitchen supplying food to the roof closes at 9:30 pm
nightly, that is also the time that dining stops on the roof. Food
is still available until last call on the first floor from the bar
kitchen.
How late do you serve food in the lounge?
The first floor kitchen is open until last call on Fridays and
Saturdays. During the rest of the week, we don't get much call for
food past 10:00, so we close the kitchen whenever we haven't gotten
a food order for 45 minutes or so. Tuesday through Thursday nights,
the kitchen is usually closed by 10:30-11:00. you can always call
the bar to see if we're still serving. (703) 276-3165 ext. 201.
Can I bring in a cake or cupcakes for dessert?
Frankly, we are in the business of selling food, so we strongly
discourage outside food being brought into the restaurant. Should
you decide to bring in cakes or cupcakes anyway, we will charge
you $3 per person for a plating fee.
With enough notice (three days at least), we will be happy to have
our culinary team bake you a cake in-house. $60 for a small cake
to feed 8-10 people. $120 for a larger cake that feeds up to 20
people.
What is your corkage fee?
Due to Virginia ABC laws, you may not bring alcoholic beverages
into any Virginia restaurant.
If I don’t finish a bottle of wine, can I take it with me?
Yes! Many people do not know this, but you can take any unfinished wine home with you in the state of Virginia. Additionally, we supply single-seal Wine Doggy Bags to encapsulate your bottle for the trip home, so it’s not viewed as an open container by law enforcement officials.
Is Eventide family friendly?
Most of us who work at Eventide are parents, so we understand the need for a nice place to go out to dinner with the kids. In addition, we believe in serving the youngsters the same high quality, healthful food we provide for adults. As a result, we are offering a special option for families who aren't ready for "prime time" evening dining yet, but still want a refined restaurant experience with excellent culinary options. Come in any night before 6:30 and kids age 6 and younger will get the chef's daily selection of fresh steamed vegetables, fresh fruit and tender cuts of meat at NO cost*. It is our hope that this will provide both the comfortable and exceptional family dining experience you've been looking for.
*Please note: One free "kid's plate" per adult entree ordered. They are $5 each otherwise. Please remember that this special offer is only available to tables that are seated at 6:30 or earlier.
Are you able to accommodate diners with food allergies?
Definitely. Please let your server know what allergies you have
and we will take every precaution when making your meal. If you
have a list of items that you cannot ingest, please print them and
bring them with you to hand to your server. You can be confident
that our chef will change out all cutting boards and carefully check
all ingredients when preparing your meal, but remember that alerting
your server of your allergies is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, even if you
don’t think you’re ordering anything that could cause a reaction.
Why is it hard to get a reservation but when I dine, I see that
there are plenty of tables that are unseated?
We book tables based on an estimate that most people dine for two
hours at our restaurant. That being said, for example, we can't
seat a table at 7:00 if we need it for an 8:00 or 8:30 reservation.
We'll never purposefully hold a table open all night--sometimes
guests "no show" for their reservation or choose to stay
in the bar and we won't have a walk-in to fill their seats.
Is Eventide accessible to persons with disabilities?
Absolutely. We have an elevator that goes to the second floor dining
room as well as the roof. There are bathrooms on all three levels
that are easily wheelchair accessible. Please call us if you have
any specific questions that aren't answered here.
